Miss Nina Simone On My Side!

I am giving thanks for freedom today and the happiness I experience in my life. I am also  giving thanks for the pictures right behind me....well kind of behind me on the side...right on my wall to my right. The one in particular that gives me inspiration is the three pictures right next to each other of SISTA NINA SIMONE! It's a wonderful image of beautiful vocalist who sung from her soul!

• At her debut concert, her parents, who had taken seats in the front row, were forced to move to the back of the hall to make way for Caucasian people.

At Ten Years Old...The Power of Affirmation Grabbed Hold of ME!

When I was 10 years old, I remember being in the kitchen listening to Patrice Rushen's LOOK UP AND ENJOY!   Who remembers that!!!! "If you're feeling down, here's what cha' do, pick it up and get higher, you know you can do it,If you wanna sing, you gotta' move pick it up and get higher, you know you can do t,Look up and enjoy, Look up and enjoy"

 I remember thinking....That's it....I got to look up and think positive thoughts. I need to speak it and feel it! I remember thinking, I am going to think in positive way!

This was huge for me at 10 years old because I've been thinking that way ever since. In high school, when everybody was running around like some freak-o-zoid teenage maniacs...I was at the cafeteria table with my notebook writing over and over and over again...I LOVE MYSELF...I LOVE MYSELF...I would fill up pages of this type of affirmations......I had affirmation posters that I made all in my room all over my walls!I am so happy for the living power of affirmations! And I am so happy for Patrice Rushen's song LOOK UP!I am going to continue to LOOK UP & ENJOY!!!!! Yeah!!!
